MICROORC is proud to be part of the EU-funded project cluster Microbes4SustainableFoods (M4SF). This initiative brings together a group of projects committed to advancing sustainable food systems, improving human health, and strengthening environmental resilience through microbiome research across the food value chain.
The cluster was originally founded by HealthFerm, DOMINO, TRIBIOME, WHEATBIOME and the PIMENTO COST Action. Over time, additional projects – including MICROORC, MICROBIOMES4SOY, MICROBE, FOODGUARD, DELICIOUS and FLAVOURFERM – have joined as associated members, further expanding the collaboration.
Within M4SF, MICROORC contributes to joint dissemination and outreach activities such as workshops, events, webinars and coordinated communication campaigns. Together, the cluster partners work towards shared goals, including:
- Unlocking the potential of microbiomes to support healthier and more sustainable diets, including through fermented foods
- Promoting solutions that benefit both human wellbeing and environmental sustainability
- Strengthening Europe’s leadership in microbial-based food innovation, while supporting regional diversity and local production
- Advancing microbiome research across the food system, from soil and crops to processing and consumption, fostering circular and sustainable value chains
